Newton’s Walk Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is located near the centre of Derby City. We provide education for pupils who have been excluded from primary school and offer a range of specialist behaviour support to schools across the city.

We work closely with pupils and families to build trust and assess any difficulties. Our vision is to allow pupils to SHINE; be Successful, Happy, Independent, feel Nurtured and be Enthusiastic about learning.

When pupils are ready to be reintegrated to a new school through the Primary In Year Fair Access Agreement, support is provided through our experienced staff team to ensure a smooth transition and make sure that every child has the best chance of being successful.

Newton’s Walk also provides external behaviour support to city-wide Primary Schools via referrals to the Newton’s Walk Support Panel. Assessment is carried out and support packages offered on an individual needs basis.

We have been awarded a Silver School Mental Health Award.
