Mental Health & Wellbeing

Kingsmead School were awarded the Silver award School Mental Health Award, as delivered by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.  Inspectors for the award noted:

The school shares their good practice in a wide variety of ways through being a Centre of Excellence. The school has been part of the consultation process across the city to develop the training programmes around Mental health provision. The school work really effectively with external agencies, having their ‘finger on the pulse’ of what is going on in the city.  They have a wide network which they use to really good effect. The school is really proud of how well supported the children are as the children coming into the school. Many have had a very disrupted education, and the school works hard to listen to them and personalise the provision for each child.  The staff in the school are highly skilled and have had a wide variety of training to support all the pupils.

Kingsmead school is committed to ensuring pupils are taught about physical health and mental wellbeing in order to support them to make good decisions about their own health and wellbeing. The aim is to enable them to look after their mental and physical wellbeing and recognise when they themselves or their classmates may be struggling.

Within school there are a wide variety of services and interventions available for pupils to maintain good emotional health.
