The Castle Education Centre is used for young people who are unable to attend school for medical reasons.  It is a quiet and calm environment that supports young people with specific medical needs.  The young people remain on the roll of their home school but attend here.  We liaise with and send feedback to the home school who are charged for this service.  We also maintain links with the medical professionals who are supporting the young people.

ECP – Enhanced Care Programme is provided through the Castle Education Centre. This programme provides support to looked after children throughout the city.  The work is individualised and begins with relationship building, moving on to other activities to boost the children’s self-esteem, reduce their harmful behaviours and to help them enjoy healthy, fulfilling lives.  To narrow the gap between their attainment and that of their peers, we also offer tuition to support them with their studies, preparation for examinations and support post 16 transition.  Although most of this work is completed away from the Castle building there may be occasions where young people may access the Castle Site.

The Hair and Beauty provision for The Kingsmead School is based at the Castle Education Centre.  We have a modern salon on site that is facilitated by a qualified teacher/hairdresser and tutor/beautician.
