Outdoor Education
Our bespoke Outdoor Education courses are designed to nurture pupils’ holistic development whilst providing a rich, practical/theory-based curriculum centred on the ‘great outdoors’. It is designed to improve teamwork, communication, independent risk-taking, SEMH skills and many more – all of which has the potential to compliment the wider curriculum at Kingsmead.
The courses include, but are not limited to; safe and effective use of edged tools and fire-lighting, treatment of water, purposeful shelter building, useful knots and cordage, tree identification and more. The nature in which evidence is gathered is multi-faceted; this includes photographs, observations, written activities, safety check documents and guided reflection.
